Fairfax, Virginia, United States, February 2025 – Chris A. has been appointed as Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at George Mason University, where he will lead HR strategy, workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement initiatives for Virginia’s largest public research university. With extensive experience in higher education HR, healthcare HR, and organizational leadership, he is set to drive people-centric initiatives and enhance HR operations at Mason.
Chris joins George Mason University after serving as Head of HR Client Services and Compensation at SLAC National Laboratory, Stanford University, where he played a crucial role in HR strategy, compensation planning, and workforce engagement. During his three-year tenure, he led key HR transformation initiatives to optimize HR services, enhance employee satisfaction, and improve talent acquisition processes.
Prior to Stanford, Chris held multiple HR leadership positions at Stanford Cancer Institute, HCA Healthcare, and The McClendon Center. As Vice President, Human Resources at HCA Healthcare, he was responsible for strategic workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement, ensuring a high-performing workforce across the organization. His experience in talent development and HR operations has been instrumental in fostering organizational growth and workforce optimization.
Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus. His expertise in HR leadership, compensation strategy, and people operations makes him well-suited to support George Mason University’s mission of innovation, inclusion, and academic excellence.
