New Delhi, India, September 9, 2025 – Coursera, Inc. (NYSE: COUR), one of the world’s leading online learning platforms, has announced localized pricing and a new interactive course preview experience for learners in India. The move is aimed at making high-quality global education more affordable and accessible, and marks a strategic step in Coursera’s ongoing mission to empower individuals with skills for career growth.
As part of this rollout, Coursera has replaced the previous audit model with a deeper and more interactive preview that provides access to the first module of nearly every course—including graded assignments, video content, and AI-powered tools like Coursera Coach—entirely for free. This allows learners to meaningfully explore the course content before enrolling.
The region-aligned pricing in India includes:
- Professional Certificates and Specializations starting at ₹1,699/month – a 60% reduction in pricing
- Coursera Plus (Monthly) subscription at ₹2,099 – also 60% more affordable
- Coursera Plus (Annual) subscription at ₹13,999
- Individual course enrollments at ₹2,699
“As one of our fastest growing and most engaged learner markets, India is at the heart of our mission,” said Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera. “The new course preview experience makes learning more engaging from day one, offering learners a richer way to explore content, while our localized pricing ensures it’s more accessible nationwide.”
In addition to these updates, Coursera is extending free access to Community Impact Courses that address pressing social issues such as mental health, refugee support, and public health. Learners who need financial assistance can continue to apply for financial aid as part of Coursera’s inclusive model.
This initiative is part of a global rollout across 100+ countries, and early tests indicate that access to full course features—combined with AI-driven support—results in higher learner engagement and completion rates. With over 31 million learners, India is Coursera’s second-largest market globally and leads the world in GenAI course enrollments, with more than 3 million enrollments to date.
