Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, June 2025 – David MacFadyen has stepped into the role of Head of People Operations at APA Group, bringing with him nearly two decades of expertise in HR operations, shared services, systems implementation, and workforce planning. In his new role, he will lead Tier 0–2 people services, drive digital enablement through platforms like Workday and ServiceNow, and deliver strategic workforce resource planning to enhance the employee experience across APA.
David MacFadyen has been with APA Group for approximately two years, most recently serving as People Services Manager, where he successfully led the delivery of HR administration and payroll through a shared services model. He was also instrumental in the rollout of the Workday ERP and established frameworks to enhance team performance and user adoption.
Before APA, David spent over six years at Jemena, where he held multiple roles including HR Services Manager and HR Services Team Leader. He led the centralization of HR services post-merger, significantly improved employee lifecycle processes, and streamlined HR operations using tools like DocuSign and Power BI. His initiatives resulted in measurable efficiencies, including over 700 annual processing hours saved and a dramatic increase in team Net Promoter Scores.
Earlier in his career, David was associated with Aurecon for over 11 years in a range of HR roles, culminating in his position as Business Analyst – HR Operations (Workday Project). He played a central role in the implementation of Workday across multiple countries, identifying significant cost savings and reducing data variance. He also led shared services implementations and developed strategic HR processes for Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
David’s foundational HR experience spans roles such as HR Coordinator, HR Advisor, and Payroll Officer, where he was responsible for regional payroll processing, HRIS reporting, and the development of digital HR tools. His early contributions laid the groundwork for his strong technical and leadership capabilities in HR operations and transformation.
