New Delhi, Delhi, India, December 2025 — Jindal Steel Ltd. has appointed Debojyoti Roy as President Strategy & Execution, marking a significant leadership addition as the organization strengthens its strategic execution and long-term growth agenda. In this role, Roy will be responsible for driving enterprise-wide strategy formulation and execution, aligning business transformation initiatives, and supporting leadership in navigating complex operational and market dynamics.
In his most recent role prior to joining Jindal Steel Ltd., Debojyoti Roy served as Chief Corporate Strategy and Planning at Tata Steel Group, where he led corporate strategy planning and deployment across functions. During this tenure, he worked closely with senior leadership to align long-term organizational objectives, identify high-impact structural improvement opportunities, and provide analytical insights to support data-driven decision-making. His work also included driving synergies across group companies and partnering with M&A, risk management, and financial strategy teams on growth initiatives.
Before this, Roy held the position of Director – Business Transformation, Quality & Business Excellence at Tata Steel UK, where he focused on improving operational and project efficiency through strategic planning, resource optimization, and disciplined execution. He collaborated with leadership and the board to shape operational strategy, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and deliver measurable performance and cost-efficiency outcomes across global operations.
Earlier, Debojyoti Roy served as Principal Executive Officer – Chief of Staff at Tata Steel BSL (formerly Bhushan Steel Ltd.), where he played a pivotal role in organizational restructuring, strategic execution, and governance. His responsibilities included evaluating merger opportunities, strengthening policy frameworks, enhancing enterprise performance, and driving business strategy execution to support revenue growth and market expansion.
His foundational years were spent at Tata Steel Limited, where he held multiple leadership roles including Chief Transformation Officer (Business Process & Operations Excellence), Head – Operations, Business Performance Enhancement, and senior engineering and maintenance leadership positions. Across these roles, Roy led large-scale transformation programs, EBITDA and cash-flow improvement initiatives, KPI benchmarking, digital transformation, and operational excellence programs across the steel value chain.
Debojyoti Roy is an alumnus of Xavier Institute of Management (XIM Bhubaneswar), where he completed his PGDM in Operations & HR. He has also participated in the Tata Group Executive Leadership Seminar in Business Strategy at the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business, further strengthening his strategic leadership capabilities.
