Singapore, January 2026 – Desikan Sundararajan has been appointed as Vice President & Head of Asia Pacific Strategic Business Development (SBD) and Country Managing Director, Singapore at Equinor, where he will lead the company’s Asia Pacific growth agenda, regional partnerships, and country-level operations from Singapore.
In this expanded leadership role, Desikan will spearhead Equinor’s regional commercial strategy, accelerate low-carbon and renewable energy initiatives, strengthen government and industry partnerships, and support the company’s long-term sustainability and energy-transition ambitions across Asia Pacific.
Desikan Sundararajan steps into his current leadership role at Equinor following nearly a decade of progressive responsibilities within the organization. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Country Manager – India, where he led Equinor’s successful market entry into India, established its oil and gas trading and supply presence, and played a pivotal role in advancing strategic low-carbon partnerships and energy-transition frameworks.
Earlier, he served as Head of Business Development – Wind and Low Carbon, driving strategic projects across energy storage, offshore wind, hydrogen, and emerging low-carbon businesses while leading cross-geography teams in Norway and global markets.
Before Equinor, Desikan built strong technical and leadership foundations at Statoil, where he served in senior R&D and sustainability leadership roles, and earlier at O-I and Green Systems, leading breakthrough work in emissions reduction, energy efficiency, carbon capture, and environmental technologies.
He began his career in advanced research and engineering, holding senior research roles in academia and industry, supported by a strong academic foundation in chemical and environmental engineering.
