Reflections on 2024:
2024 marked a significant shift in HR transformation, characterized by the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within HR functions. While the shift brought about apprehensions regarding job displacement and reskilling, it also opened new avenues for value creation.

By leveraging AI for automating tasks such as applicant tracking, performance reviews, and payroll processing, we enhanced operational efficiency and freed up HR capacity for strategic initiatives. Our focus shifted towards:

  • Innovative talent acquisition through advanced sourcing strategies and employer branding.
  • Enhanced employee engagement via individual development plans and data-driven insights.
  • Organizational development strategies that promoted a high-performance, inclusive work culture.

“AI-driven transformation has redefined HR, shifting focus from operational tasks to strategic workforce development.”

Resolutions for 2025:
Looking ahead to 2025, my focus will be on further strengthening NHPC’s HR framework through strategic academic partnerships and continuous learning. Key initiatives will include:

  • Collaborations with IIMs & IITs: Partnering with top-tier institutions to establish a succession pool of future-ready talent.
  • Internal Capability Development: Expanding L&D programs to upskill HR teams in digital literacy and AI proficiency.
  • Talent Acquisition Excellence: Engaging high-potential graduates with strong human capital management backgrounds to reinforce the HR talent pipeline.

By integrating data-driven insights, AI-driven automation, and continuous learning, NHPC aims to position HR as a strategic partner and key driver of organizational success in 2025 and beyond.

“In 2025, NHPC will deepen its talent partnerships and AI integration to create a future-ready workforce.”

Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) at NHPC Limited

Uttam Lal’s reflections on 2024 emphasize the critical role of AI adoption and data-driven HR practices in reshaping the future of HR. His 2025 resolutions focus on collaborations with leading institutions, upskilling initiatives, and strategic workforce development—ensuring NHPC stays ahead as a progressive and people-centric organization.
