Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, October 2025 – Erin Strong has joined the YMCA of Southern Interior BC as its Chief People Officer, marking a meaningful transition from her prior role on the YMCA SIBC Board to now becoming part of its leadership team. In this pivotal role, she will focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, driving community impact through employee engagement, and aligning HR strategies with the YMCA’s mission and values.
Before stepping into her new role, Erin Strong served as Director of Human Resources and Administration at Westbank First Nation, where she played a key role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation initiatives, strengthening workplace relationships, and promoting leadership grounded in listening, humility, and respect. Her tenure there profoundly shaped her people-first approach and her commitment to inclusive and values-driven leadership.
Previously, Erin was the Human Resources Director at Drax Group Canada, a leading renewable energy company engaged in sustainable biomass energy production. Over nearly seven years, she led HR operations across Canada and the U.S., overseeing talent strategy, labor relations, executive leadership, and large-scale M&A integration efforts, including the acquisition of Pinnacle Renewable Energy by Drax Group PLC.
Earlier in her career, Erin spent over a decade at Mark Anthony Group, where she served as Director of Human Resources, leading HR strategy for the company’s wineries, retail outlets, and vineyard operations across the Okanagan Valley. Her leadership in this role strengthened organizational culture and talent development within a diverse, growth-oriented business.
Her professional journey also includes pivotal HR roles with Tolko Industries, Interior Health Authority, and RBC, where she gained extensive experience in human resources consulting, employee engagement, recruitment, and client relationship management. Each role added to her expertise in fostering inclusive cultures and designing HR strategies aligned with business and community growth.
