Singapore, January 2026 — Marriott International has elevated Gautam Bhandari to the role of Chief Development Officer, Asia Pacific (excluding China). In this expanded leadership position, Gautam Bhandari will continue to lead the company’s growth and development agenda across one of Marriott’s most strategically important regions, working closely with owners, partners, and internal teams to strengthen brand presence and create long-term value.
Reflecting on the elevation, Gautam Bhandari shared that having spent much of his career across Asia Pacific in both operations and development roles, it is an honor to continue leading growth efforts in a region central to Marriott International’s strategy. He expressed gratitude to the leadership team for their confidence and emphasized that development is a collective effort driven by the trust and commitment of owners, partners, and teams across the region.
In his most recent role as Senior Vice President, Hotel Development & Operations, Gautam Bhandari played a key role in advancing Marriott’s development momentum across Asia Pacific, overseeing both strategic growth initiatives and operational alignment. His leadership helped strengthen relationships with partners while supporting sustained expansion across diverse markets.
Prior to this, he served as Regional Vice President, Hotel Development, Asia Pacific, where he led regional development strategies and worked closely with stakeholders to grow Marriott’s footprint across multiple brands and geographies. This phase of his career marked a deepening focus on long-term development planning and owner partnerships.
Earlier, Gautam Bhandari held senior commercial leadership roles within Marriott International, including Vice President, Revenue Strategy – Asia Pacific and Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China). These roles built a strong foundation in revenue optimization, market positioning, and brand-led growth across highly competitive hospitality markets.
He also brings hands-on operational experience, having served as General Manager & Hotel Manager in India, along with earlier regional revenue leadership roles. Before joining Marriott, he spent close to four years with InterContinental Hotels Group, where he worked in Regional and Area Revenue Management roles across Asia Pacific, further strengthening his expertise in hospitality performance and growth strategy.
