New York, United States, March 2025 – Hornblower Group today announced the appointment of Lakshmi Williams as the company’s new Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel. With a distinguished career spanning the transportation, energy, and technology sectors, Williams brings an exceptional blend of legal expertise and strategic leadership to the organization. Additionally, her extensive experience in the infrastructure industry will be a key value add for Hornblower’s Ferry and Concessions division.
In this role, Williams will oversee all legal matters within Hornblower Group, guiding the company’s legal strategy and providing critical counsel to the executive team as the company continues to expand its global presence.
Williams joins Hornblower Group from Transurban Group, where she spent over a decade in various legal leadership roles, most recently serving as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for North America. While there, she played a pivotal role in managing legal, governance, compliance, and risk functions for one of the largest transportation infrastructure companies in the world. Williams’s leadership was instrumental in several major legal and business initiatives, including large-scale acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex litigation. Her strategic guidance was key to the successful completion of multi-million-dollar projects, including the $1 billion acquisition of a Canadian company. While at Transurban, Williams also gained extensive experience in navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes and was integral in risk management and strategic legal advisory.
Prior to her time at Transurban, Williams served as in-house legal counsel for GridPoint, Inc., and MicroStrategy Incorporated, further broadening her expertise across multiple industries.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School.
“We are excited to welcome Lakshmi to our team,” said Mike Flaskey, CEO of Hornblower Group. “Her depth of experience in legal and regulatory matters, along with her proven leadership in driving business initiatives, makes her the ideal person to lead our legal and compliance teams as we continue to grow and innovate.”
Williams added, “I am thrilled to join Hornblower Group at such an exciting time in the company’s growth and evolution. I look forward to working with the talented leadership team to help guide the company through its continued success while ensuring our legal and regulatory strategies align with Hornblower’s global ambitions.”
