Bloomington, Minnesota, United States, October 2025 – Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU), a nationally recognized leader in person-centered healthcare education, has announced the appointment of Dr. Jennifer Watters, D.C., L.Ac. as Director of the Human Performance Center and Assistant Professor. In her new role, Dr. Watters will lead the advancement of human performance research, education, and integrative health initiatives while mentoring future healthcare professionals across disciplines at NWHSU.
Dr. Jennifer Watters brings nearly two decades of clinical and academic experience in integrative medicine, chiropractic care, and sports performance to her new position. Her career reflects a blend of hands-on clinical practice, high-performance sports healthcare, and university-level teaching.
Before joining Northwestern Health Sciences University, Dr. Watters served with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee for over seven years, most recently as Senior Health Care Services Provider – Clinic Lead at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California. In this capacity, she led multidisciplinary healthcare teams providing injury management, rehabilitation, and performance optimization to Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Her work supported elite sports performance through integrative clinical interventions, data-driven care, and collaboration across medical disciplines.
Parallel to her Olympic Committee role, Dr. Watters contributed to academia as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the Southern California University of Health Sciences for more than seven years, where she taught sports medicine and integrative healthcare courses. She also previously coordinated the Sports Medicine Clinic at the university, overseeing clinical operations, mentoring students, and ensuring excellence in patient care delivery.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Watters practiced as a Chiropractor and Licensed Acupuncturist at both her own clinic and at D.I.S.C. Sports and Spine Center, where she specialized in spinal and extremity adjustments, soft-tissue mobilization, kinesio taping, physiotherapy, and nutritional counseling. Her integrative practice helped patients enhance recovery, mobility, and overall health through a holistic approach to musculoskeletal wellness.
Dr. Watters also contributed as an Initial Clinical Reviewer for Genex Services for over a decade, applying her expertise to workers’ compensation clinical evaluations. Early in her professional journey, she served as Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach at the University of California, San Diego, underscoring her long-standing commitment to athletic performance and education.
