Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – October 2024 – Karthik SM has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources for India & Malaysia at Biocon Biologics. In this elevated role, Karthik will oversee HR operations for approximately 5,000 employees across India and Malaysia, spearheading Biocon Biologics’ human capital strategy to drive business growth, talent transformation, and enhance employee engagement and retention.
Karthik’s career at Biocon Biologics began as the Global Head of Talent Acquisition, where he developed a high-performing organization in line with Biocon Biologics’ IPO journey. He led strategic initiatives to drive a 30% annual headcount growth, recruiting 2,500 new hires annually and working closely with senior leadership to align talent strategies with the company’s vision.
Prior to joining Biocon Biologics, Karthik served as Head of Talent Acquisition, South Asia at IQVIA, where he led a team responsible for staffing approximately 5,000 hires annually. His role encompassed workforce planning, technology enablement, and campus recruitment, contributing to IQVIA’s growth and operational efficiency in South Asia.
Before IQVIA, Karthik held various HR leadership roles at Accenture, including Associate Vice President – Recruitment, where he established recruitment operations across multiple regions and managed a robust monthly hiring pipeline. During his nine-year tenure, he played a key role in innovation, mergers, and workforce expansion, solidifying Accenture’s recruitment capabilities across India and beyond.
