New Delhi, India, September 2025 — Komerz, the UK-based global commerce growth partner, has appointed Deepak Sangarpal as Chief Commercial Officer for India & Southeast Asia. With over 25 years of experience building distribution-led businesses across FMCG, beverages, personal care, and retail, Deepak joins as the company accelerates its expansion across the region’s rapidly digitalizing markets.
Deepak Sangarpal has previously held leadership roles at global companies including Godfrey Phillips, 3M, Moser Baer, Orangina Schweppes, and McCormick, consistently delivering growth by combining global best practices with local market expertise. His experience in transforming fragmented retail landscapes into scalable distribution networks directly aligns with Komerz’s mission to modernize commerce infrastructure across India and Southeast Asia.
“India and Southeast Asia represent over 1.7 billion consumers in markets rapidly shifting toward digital-first commerce. Komerz’s vision of building growth infrastructure powered by AI and data-backed insights positions us perfectly to capture this opportunity. Our focus will be delivering speed, visibility, and efficiency to make Komerz the engine behind modern distribution,” said Deepak Sangarpal, CCO – India & Southeast Asia, Komerz.
The appointment comes as India and Southeast Asia experience explosive growth in digital-first businesses and cross-border commerce, with traditional trade still accounting for over 70% of retail in the region. Komerz’s KOMERZ OS platform, powered by AI and machine learning, addresses critical distribution inefficiencies in markets where India alone has 13 million stores operating in fragmented supply chains. The company’s Shared Prosperity model ensures mutual growth with brand partners, differentiating it from traditional distribution platforms.
As CCO, Deepak will establish regional commercial hubs across India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, while building category-specific solutions for food, alco-beverages, home care, and personal care sectors. His immediate priorities include setting up go-to-market partnerships, establishing distribution channels, and assembling high-performing regional teams.
“Deepak’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in our global expansion strategy. His proven track record of transforming complex distribution landscapes across India and Southeast Asia makes him the ideal leader to unlock the immense potential of these markets. With Deepak leading our commercial efforts in the region, we’re positioned to deliver on our promise of building the growth infrastructure that brands need to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving commerce environment,” said Siddharth Shankar, Global COO, Komerz.
Over the next 12-24 months, Komerz plans to target distribution-heavy sectors including food and beverages, alco-beverages, personal care, and home care, while enabling D2C brands seeking global scale. The company will focus on HoReCa, travel retail, e-commerce, retail, and general trade channels with localized strategies for each market.
