At Athulya, my vision has always been to create an ecosystem where seniors experience holistic, compassionate care that empowers them to lead dignified and independent lives. As the need for specialized senior care grows in India, what are some of the key challenges Athulya faces, and how do you overcome them to provide consistent, compassionate care?

Srinivasan Govindaraj

Founder & CEO,
Athulya Senior Care

One of the key challenges is the stigma associated with senior care facilities, where many families still see it as a last resort. We overcome this by creating an environment that feels like home, where seniors lead fulfilling lives with access to top-notch care. Another challenge is the shortage of skilled geriatric care professionals. We address this through rigorous in-house training programs and partnerships with healthcare institutions. Our promise to compassionate, personalized care allows us to maintain the highest standards, even as we scale.

In memory and palliative care, sensitivity and empathy are paramount. Our staff is trained in clinical skills and emotional intelligence so that they understand the delicate nature of these services. Safety is a priority, with secure environments for memory care residents and comprehensive pain management and emotional support in palliative care. By focusing on dignity, comfort, and respect, we create a nurturing environment for all our residents.

Given your experience in healthcare and senior care, where do you see the future of senior care in India, and how does Athulya plan to contribute to this evolving industry?

Srinivasan Govindaraj

Founder & CEO,
Athulya Senior Care

The future of senior care in India lies in a hybrid model that combines institutional care with home-based services, driven by technology and specialized care programs. As life expectancy increases, there will be a growing need for comprehensive geriatric services that go beyond just medical care to include mental, emotional, and social well-being. Athulya aims to lead this evolution by expanding our continuum of care model, integrating more tech-enabled services, and focusing on chronic disease management. We aim to contribute to a future where seniors in India receive the respect, care, and dignity they deserve.

Prior to Athulya, you founded Front Enders Healthcare and Healthabove60. How did these ventures shape your approach to senior care, and what inspired you to focus exclusively on the elderly?

Srinivasan Govindaraj

Founder & CEO,
Athulya Senior Care

My previous ventures gave me deep insights into healthcare delivery and the gaps in geriatric care. Through Healthabove60, I realized that senior care in India lacked a structured, holistic approach. The elderly require more than just medical care; they need emotional support, companionship, and dignity. This understanding inspired me to focus exclusively on senior care and led to the creation of Athulya. My experience in healthcare consulting helped me design a system that combines quality care with compassion, establishing that seniors not only live longer but live better.
