Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, November 2025 — Weir Minerals, a global leader in engineered processing solutions for the mining industry, has announced the appointment of Lindsey Farrell as Chief Operating Officer, Minerals Division. In her new role, Lindsey will oversee global operations, manufacturing, and supply chain transformation to drive productivity, efficiency, and sustainable growth across Weir’s minerals business worldwide.
Before joining Weir Minerals, Lindsey Farrell served as Vice President of Global Operations – Lab Plastics Essentials at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she led a workforce of more than 3,500 employees across 13 plants and distribution centers in seven countries. She was responsible for a $393 million P&L, a $22 million annual CapEx budget, and over $1 billion in revenue. Under her leadership, the business achieved a 14% gross margin improvement in just two years, enabled through productivity actions, footprint optimization, and the successful startup of a $230 million state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing site. Lindsey also drove supply chain transformation through Kinaxis implementation and enhanced employee engagement by 6% year over year.
Prior to Thermo Fisher, Lindsey spent over six years with Komatsu Mining, where she served as Global Vice President of Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality, and earlier as Global Vice President of Supply Chain and Logistics. She led global teams across 26 plants and distribution centers, driving cost reduction, operational efficiency, and digital transformation initiatives such as SAP Integrated Business Planning and SAP Ariba. She was instrumental in integrating the quality function into business operations, which reduced the cost of poor quality to below 1.5% of revenue.
Earlier in her career, Lindsey held multiple leadership roles at Joy Global Inc., including Global Director of Parts Marketing, Inventory Management, and Service Support, where she led initiatives that delivered $10 million in incremental revenue and $105 million in inventory reduction. Her earlier positions at Joy Global, including Operational Excellence Manager and Supply Chain Manager, further solidified her expertise in lean manufacturing, inventory optimization, and process improvement.
Lindsey began her career in GE Transportation’s Operations Management Leadership Program, where she gained extensive cross-functional experience in contracting, technical leadership, and supply chain finance. Her early work at Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Corporation as an Industrial Engineering Co-op helped lay a strong foundation in systems implementation and process excellence.
