Washington, District of Columbia, United States, November 2025 — Liz Daunt-Samford has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, strengthening the financial leadership of one of the nation’s most respected academic medical centers. In her new role, she brings decades of experience in financial stewardship, operational excellence, and strategic hospital finance across complex healthcare systems.
Liz Daunt-Samford most recently served at Emory Healthcare, where she held the role of Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, University Hospital Division. With responsibility for two major hospitals comprising more than 2,600 licensed beds and over $7 billion in annual net revenues, she operated as one of the system’s senior-most financial executives. Her portfolio included accounting, finance, budgeting, supply chain oversight, procedural operations, and care coordination—positioning her as a critical driver of financial and operational performance.
Before this, she spent meaningful time as VP & Chief Financial Officer at Emory University Hospital, where she oversaw finance, payroll, and accounting operations across multiple facilities, including Emory Ortho and Spine Hospital, Emory Rehabilitation Hospital, Budd Terrace, Wesley Woods Towers, and Emory Smyrna Hospital. Her leadership in fiscal operations and cross-functional matrix environments strengthened financial rigor and improved operational workflows across the system.
Earlier, she served for several years as VP/CFO for Emory Decatur, Hillandale, and LTAC, where she played a central role in fiscal operations, budgeting, supply chain, real estate oversight, and care coordination. Notably, she was a finance leader during the integration of DeKalb Medical Center into Emory Healthcare, collaborating closely with revenue cycle, documentation improvement, registration, billing, and other core functions during a complex multi-facility acquisition.
Her experience also includes impactful leadership as Corporate Director of Financial Planning & Reporting – EHC System, where she developed long-term capital plans, cash forecasts, and financial controls for the health system. She coordinated the accumulation of financial and statistical data for enterprise-wide planning, strengthening financial governance and data accuracy across the Emory Healthcare network.
In earlier chapters of her career, Daunt-Samford held financial leadership roles including Financial Controller at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Financial Controller at Visiting Nurse Health System, and Finance Accounting Manager at Emory Healthcare’s Physician Division, where she managed reporting, compliance, accounting optimization, and revenue cycle improvements. Her long tenure across these roles reflects a strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, and cross-functional leadership—skills that anchor her success today.
