Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands, March 2025 – Maike Dunlap has joined Maastricht University as Director of People and Development, where she will oversee HR strategy, employee engagement, and workforce transformation initiatives for the institution.
Maike brings a wealth of global HR leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Director, Employee Services and Operations at Fairfax County Public Schools, leading a team of 70+ professionals responsible for HR functions impacting 40,000 employees and 200,000 students. She spearheaded the $55 million negotiation and implementation of a new Human Capital Management (HCM) system, achieving $6 million in savings, and introduced digitization initiatives that improved onboarding efficiency and employee engagement.
Prior to that, Maike worked at Amazon, where she held multiple HR leadership roles, including Senior Manager, HR Transformation Excellence and Manager, People Enablement at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In these roles, she led organizational redesigns affecting 5,000 employees, implemented compensation strategies to enhance talent attraction, and streamlined HR processes to improve employee experience. She also created an HR KPI dashboard, driving data-driven decision-making for talent strategy.
Earlier in her career, Maike held HR and business transformation roles at Simon-Kucher & Partners, Sandvik Mining and Construction, and Amazon Germany, where she led change management projects, business development strategies, and workforce optimization initiatives. Her expertise in organizational performance, strategic HR leadership, and digital transformation positions her well to drive people development and HR innovation at Maastricht University.
