Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, October 2024 – Melanie Newman has been appointed as the new Chief People Officer at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. In this role, she will lead the human resources strategy, focusing on talent management, organizational development, and supporting the institute’s mission to advance medical research and improve healthcare outcomes. Melanie’s extensive experience in HR leadership will be critical in driving growth and supporting the institute’s innovative research initiatives.
Prior to joining the Ingham Institute, Melanie served as Rewards Lead at The Arnott’s Group for almost two years. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the organization’s compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives while enhancing employee engagement. Melanie also led initiatives to embed a competitive reward system across the company.
Before that, she held several key positions at The George Institute for Global Health, where she served as the Head of Global HR Projects and later took on the role of Acting Global HR Director. During her tenure, she spearheaded the implementation of HRIS and led the organization through complex HR transformations, ensuring efficient people management in a global context.
Earlier in her career, Melanie worked as General Manager of Human Resources at IR, where she established the global HR function for the ASX-listed software company. She successfully navigated the organization through significant growth and led HR initiatives across multiple regions. Her prior experience also includes roles at iSOFT, Verizon Business, and Software Spectrum, where she gained expertise in compensation, benefits, and HR leadership during mergers and acquisitions.
