Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, June 2024 – Michael Toellner has been appointed as the Executive Director, Total Rewards at Johnson Controls. With over 17 years of extensive experience in compensation, benefits, and human resources information systems, Michael brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.
Michael Toellner has been with Johnson Controls for approximately 10 years and 1 month. Prior to his current role, he served as the Senior Director, Total Rewards Programs & Process Solutions & TRBP for about 2 years. In this capacity, Michael operationalized the global Total Rewards strategy for the Global Products business segment, partnered with HR business partners to advise on Total Rewards strategies, and managed various projects to meet business objectives.
Before that, Michael held the position of Associate Director Total Rewards at Johnson Controls for about 5 years and 3 months. His responsibilities included collaborating with global leaders to deliver high-quality Total Rewards solutions, overseeing incentives for Global Products, and ensuring compliance with compensation-related legislation.
Michael’s earlier career at Johnson Controls includes roles as Manager Total Rewards and Senior Compensation Consultant. He managed Total Rewards-related projects, provided professional consultation to managers and HR partners, and stayed updated on market trends to enhance the effectiveness of total rewards plans.
Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Michael worked at Extendicare for nearly 7 years as the Director of Compensation & HRIS and HRIS Operations Specialist. His responsibilities included calculating executive bonuses, creating incentive plans, maintaining supervisory hierarchies, and managing new hire processes.
Michael’s early career includes a role as an HRIS Analyst at Extendicare, where he created reports, handled employee complaints, and managed new hire stationery from the corporate office.
