Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada – November 2024 – Interior Health Authority has announced the appointment of Dr. Shallen Letwin as its new Vice President, Human Resources and Professional Practice. Dr. Letwin steps into this pivotal role to lead Interior Health’s HR strategy, overseeing professional practice standards and fostering a culture of excellence across the organization’s healthcare services in Southern British Columbia.
Dr. Letwin has served Interior Health Authority with distinction since 2019, previously holding the position of Vice President, Clinical Operations, where he provided operational oversight for healthcare delivery, setting high standards in service and patient care. His tenure at Interior Health reflects his dedication to supporting health professionals in achieving the best patient outcomes.

In addition to his leadership at Interior Health, Dr. Letwin has contributed to healthcare improvement across British Columbia as a Board Member at SWITCH BC, focusing on safety, well-being, and collaboration in healthcare. Before joining Interior Health, he served as Vice President, Regional Operations at BC Cancer, leading initiatives that enhanced regional oncology services.
Dr. Letwin’s extensive healthcare experience includes his roles at Fraser Health Authority, where he held multiple leadership positions such as Vice President, Community Hospitals and Programs. He played an integral role in managing community hospitals and health services across multiple regions with a significant budget responsibility, demonstrating his capability in large-scale healthcare operations.
His academic contributions are notable as well, having been a Course Coordinator and Instructor at the University of the Fraser Valley for over a decade, where he developed and taught courses within the Health Sciences Faculty, enriching the next generation of healthcare professionals.
