Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, August 2024 – Patrick Rooney has stepped into his new role as Deputy Director, Human Resources at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland. With a distinguished career in international diplomacy and HR, Patrick brings a wealth of experience to this vital position, where he will oversee human resources strategies and operations that support the department’s global mission.
Prior to this role, Patrick served as the Deputy Head Of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Singapore for three years, where he was instrumental in managing diplomatic relations, including responsibilities for Brunei Darussalam.
Before his tenure in Singapore, Patrick was the Private Secretary to the Secretary General at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland, where he provided critical support and strategic advice at the highest levels of government.
Patrick’s journey in the Department of Foreign Affairs also includes his role as Deputy Training and Development Director, where he focused on enhancing the department’s training programs and development initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Patrick contributed to the International Finance Division at the Department of Finance, Ireland, playing a key role in implementing the IFS2020 Strategy, the Irish Government’s strategy for the development of Ireland’s International Financial Services sector.
