Plochingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, September 2025 — Philippe Bouviala has stepped into the role of Chief People Officer at Decathlon, bringing with him more than two decades of extensive experience across people strategy, operations, and international retail leadership within the organization. In this strategic position, Philippe will focus on aligning human capital with Decathlon’s broader business goals, nurturing a people-first culture, and driving organizational effectiveness.
Philippe began his journey with Decathlon in 2001 and has since taken on diverse roles across France, Russia, Tahiti, and Germany. Most recently, he served as Country Manager for Decathlon Franchise in Tahiti, where he led the company’s operations and strategic development in the Polynesian market. Prior to that, he was Human Resources Business Partner for Decathlon’s Sports and Brands teams, where he also spearheaded the HRBP community.
In earlier leadership positions, Philippe served as Regional Director for Paris East and Strategic HR Partner for Paris West, blending operational execution with talent strategy. His commercial acumen was evident in his tenure as Director of Commercial Operations for the basketball business and as Product Manager for Decathlon’s Body Care and Rugby lines, where he led product strategy from concept to market success.
Philippe’s foundational years in retail began at Conforama, where he climbed the ranks from Sales Associate to Store Director and Trainer. His broad experience in both people leadership and commercial performance underpins his new mission to ensure human capital becomes a lever for growth at Decathlon.
