New York, United States, August 2025 – Ruchita Bansal Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), the world’s leading academic medical center for musculoskeletal health. In her new role, Ruchita will lead the enterprise talent strategy, overseeing HR transformation, leadership capability building, workforce planning, and the integration of technology and analytics into decision-making. Her appointment marks a pivotal step in aligning HSS’s people strategy with business growth, innovation, and long-term value creation.

Prior to joining HSS, Ruchita worked as an Executive Advisor providing strategic counsel on HR transformation and leadership to organizations across industries.
She previously spent nearly seven years with Guardian Life, where she served as Vice President Human Resources and later as CHRO for India. At Guardian, she spearheaded the establishment of operations in India, scaling the workforce from 800 to 2,800 employees, transitioning the company’s HR systems to Workday and UKG, and embedding AI-driven workplace solutions. She also designed and implemented advanced HR operating models and strategic workforce planning frameworks.
Before Guardian, Ruchita held leadership roles at Fidelity International, where she served as Head of Talent, India, establishing the company’s first learning department and leading global projects in organizational and talent development. She was instrumental in implementing flagship programs that significantly strengthened the leadership pipeline and reduced recruitment turnaround times.
Earlier in her career, Ruchita gained extensive HR leadership experience at GE, where she held roles including HR Head, SBI Cards India and HR Head IT Asia – Healthcare, Aviation, Transportation. During her tenure at GE, she drove HR strategy across multiple business lines and geographies, with a focus on technology, operations, and organizational development. She also worked with GE Capital as Vice President and held leadership roles in HR transformation across Asia.
Ruchita began her career with Polaris Software Labs and IIM Bangalore as a research associate, followed by roles at Ness Digital Engineering, National Bonds Corporation, and Aricent. Over the years, she has built a strong reputation for driving culture transformation, embedding technology into HR strategy, and mentoring leadership teams to deliver sustainable growth.
Ruchita holds an MBA in Human Resources (Major) and Finance (Minor) from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
