New Delhi, Delhi, India, October 2025 – The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India, in its selection meeting held on October 3, 2025, has recommended Shri S. Sakthimani for the position of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT).
A seasoned leader with deep expertise across strategic, financial, and operational domains, Shri S. Sakthimani brings over three decades of multi-sectoral experience to the role. His appointment reflects PESB’s commitment to placing visionary leaders at the helm of India’s key public sector undertakings to drive innovation, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
S. Sakthimani is a distinguished professional, holding qualifications as a Cost and Management Accountant, Company Secretary, and Metallurgical Engineer—a rare combination that blends financial acumen with strong technical and managerial capabilities.
Before his selection to lead FACT, he served as Director (Finance & Marketing) at Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI), where he played a pivotal role in enhancing financial performance, operational efficiency, and market competitiveness. His tenure at CCI was marked by prudent fiscal management and strategic decision-making that contributed to the corporation’s turnaround and growth trajectory.
Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions in some of India’s most prominent public sector undertakings, including the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Scooters India Limited, and Engineering Projects (India) Limited (EPI). In these organizations, he demonstrated excellence in strategic planning, corporate affairs, operations management, quality assurance, and auditing, establishing himself as a leader who balances governance with innovation.
His vast experience across industries such as steel, engineering, and cement positions him well to steer FACT—India’s first large-scale fertilizer company—toward renewed growth and modernization.
About The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT)
The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT), headquartered at Udyogamandal, Kochi, Kerala, was incorporated in 1943 as India’s first large-scale fertilizer manufacturing company and began production in 1947. Over the decades, FACT has evolved into a multi-divisional enterprise engaged in fertilizers, petrochemicals, engineering design, and fabrication. It also established the FACT Engineering and Design Organisation (FEDO) and FACT Engineering Works (FEW), which provide design, consultancy, and manufacturing services to the chemical and fertilizer industries.
