Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, December 2025 – TAFE – Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited has appointed Saikat Sarkar as Group Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, strengthening its global leadership team with one of India’s most seasoned legal professionals. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Saikat brings deep legal, regulatory, and compliance expertise across the FMCG, automotive, and manufacturing sectors, along with significant global experience.
In his new role, Saikat will oversee all legal, governance, risk, and compliance matters for the TAFE Group across geographies, while also contributing to strategic decisions involving corporate governance, international regulatory landscapes, and business expansion initiatives.
Career Journey
Prior to joining TAFE, Saikat Sarkar served as Global General Counsel at Eicher Motors, where he led the legal function across India, UK, USA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. In this role, he was instrumental in driving legal strategy, managing international litigations, and enabling cross-border operations with strong legal and compliance frameworks.
Before Eicher Motors, Saikat held the role of Associate General Counsel at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, where he led the verticals of contracts, antitrust, M&A, and corporate litigation. He worked on digital transformation initiatives and contributed to standardizing compliance procedures across India.
Earlier, he served as General Counsel for Coca-Cola’s operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Myanmar, overseeing international contracts, data privacy compliance, land acquisition, and anti-bribery efforts. He was also a board member of Coca-Cola entities in Malaysia and Singapore, playing a crucial governance role.
Saikat’s long association with Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages included leadership roles across regions such as Eastern India, Maharashtra, and North-East, where he handled strategic litigations, regulatory issues, greenfield projects, and high-stakes corporate matters. His legal journey began at Hindustan Unilever Limited as a Law Officer and as an advocate in the Calcutta High Court.
