Vadodara, Gujarat, India, January 2026 — Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has announced the appointment of Sanjay Joshi as Additional and Non-Executive Independent Director, effective January 1, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The appointment, made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its governance framework and ensuring transparency in board practices. GACL has also issued a postal ballot notice seeking shareholder consent for this appointment, confirming that Mr. Joshi is not related to any existing Directors or Key Managerial Personnel.
A chemical engineer with more than four decades of experience in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, and energy transition sectors, Sanjay Joshi brings an extensive global perspective to the GACL board. His professional journey spans India, Oman, Abu Dhabi, and the United Kingdom, and includes leadership across project management, engineering, and strategic transformation functions.
Sanjay Joshi has held multiple board and executive roles throughout his distinguished career. He currently serves as Independent Director at Ion Exchange (India) Ltd. and Ion Exchange Engineering and Projects Limited, and as Non-Executive Director at SLB Capturi India Private Ltd. (formerly Aker Carbon Capture India Private Limited). His board responsibilities include membership in the Audit and Risk Management Committees and chairmanship of the CSR Committee at Ion Exchange (India) Ltd. He was also recognized by the Chem TECH Foundation as Business Leader of the Year in Engineering Services for his outstanding contributions to industrial engineering and leadership.
During his two-decade tenure with Aker Solutions, Sanjay Joshi played a pivotal role in building the company’s upstream oil and gas business and positioning India as a global execution hub within the group’s operational framework. His leadership extended to roles such as Managing Director, Country Manager (India), Senior Vice President – Customer Management (APAC), and Director – Transformation, reflecting his expertise in steering complex, multi-country engineering operations. His earlier career includes impactful roles with Halliburton (Granherne), Comprimo, Davy Powergas, and Development Consultants Pvt. Ltd., where he built foundational expertise in design, project management, and engineering innovation.
