Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, February 2025 – Sanjay Saxena has been appointed as Director General of Police and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) under the Maharashtra Government. In this role, he will oversee the strategic operations and administration of MSSC, leading a workforce of over 19,000 security personnel. His leadership will be instrumental in enhancing security services for government, semi-government, PSUs, and private sector organizations across Maharashtra.
Sanjay Saxena previously served as Additional Director General (ADG), Law and Order, Maharashtra Police, where he played a pivotal role in crime prevention, law enforcement, and maintaining public order across the state. Before this, he was Principal Secretary, Home (Special), Government of Maharashtra, where he assisted in policy formulation and execution for the Home Department, focusing on law enforcement and governance initiatives.
Earlier, he was Additional Director General (Special Operations), Maharashtra Police, where he led statewide security operations, and ADG, Training & Special Units, where he supervised police recruitment and training programs for personnel ranging from constables to IPS officers. His tenure as Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, was marked by successful operations against organized crime syndicates operating locally and internationally.
Prior to these roles, Saxena was Inspector General (IG), Force One, where he headed Maharashtra’s counter-terrorism unit, and Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, where he managed crime, traffic, and law enforcement operations for a police force of over 7,000 personnel. His expertise in economic crime investigations was evident during his tenure as Additional Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Mumbai Police, and as Superintendent of Police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), where he led investigations into major financial frauds and economic crimes.
Sanjay Saxena holds a Master of Management Studies in Public Policy from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut. His expertise spans corporate security, counter-terrorism, HR development, law enforcement, and strategic operations.
