London, United Kingdom, October 2025 — Rolls-Royce has announced the appointment of Sashi Mukundan as Executive Vice President (EVP). Bringing over two decades of leadership experience from BP, Mukundan will play a key role in advancing Rolls-Royce’s global strategy, leveraging his extensive expertise in energy, low carbon solutions, and international operations.
Mukundan’s career at BP spanned more than 24 years, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, BP Group, and President, BP India. In this capacity, he led BP’s India businesses including gas and low carbon energy, while steering the boards of Castrol India Ltd, Reliance BP Mobility Ltd, India Gas Solutions Pvt Ltd, and BP Exploration (Alpha) Ltd. Under his leadership, BP delivered over $12 billion in investments in India, employing more than 8,000 people and contributing 5% of the company’s global EBITA.
Earlier in his career, Mukundan held the role of Head of Country – India and Vice President, Upstream and Gas Business, where he spearheaded BP’s historic $7 billion Gas Value Chain joint venture with Reliance Industries in 2011. His earlier contributions included facilitating BP’s entry into India’s upstream oil and gas sector through licenses in Coal Bed Methane and deepwater blocks, as well as enabling LNG trade that generated over $200 million in profit in 2009.
Before joining BP, Mukundan built his leadership foundation with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), where he served in senior roles across the U.S. and Asia Pacific, including Director of LNG Marketing and Director of Planning. His diverse international experience at ARCO and BP has equipped him with a global perspective in strategy, operations, and energy transition.
His appointment at Rolls-Royce reflects the company’s continued focus on strengthening its leadership bench to deliver innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence across its global portfolio.
