Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2025 – Saumya Mondal has been appointed as the Global Head Human Resources – Optical Networking Business at STL – Sterlite Technologies Limited, a global leader in optical and digital solutions. In his new role, Saumya will lead HR strategy and operations for STL’s Optical Networking Business across multiple geographies, focusing on talent transformation, people productivity, global alignment, and a culture of innovation.
Prior to joining STL, Saumya served as Vice President Human Resources at AAK for over 7 years, where he was instrumental in driving HR integration, talent management, digital transformation, and a people-first culture that accelerated productivity and leadership capability across the organization.
Before that, he was associated with Future Consumer Limited and Future Group India in 2016–2017, where he held dual roles as Head – People Office Operations and Head – Talent Acquisition. His contributions included building a mass talent acquisition strategy and standardizing hiring processes across verticals.
Earlier, he served as Group Head Human Resources at Gitanjali Gems Ltd for 3 years, managing domestic and international HR functions and aligning global workforce practices with business priorities.
Saumya also held key HR leadership roles at Sahara India, Essar Oil, and Essar Group, including heading HR for Corporate Services and the E&P business, with a strong focus on M&A, strategic workforce planning, and corporate policy development. His early career began with HR positions at Jindal Stainless and Essar Steel, gaining exposure to manufacturing and industrial sectors.
