Brisbane, Queensland, April 2024 — The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (Queensland) has officially announced the appointment of Silven Simmons as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Simmons, who brings over a decade of strategic human resources expertise and will be based out of Brisbane.
In his new capacity, Simmons will oversee all aspects of human resources, aiming to enhance workforce capabilities across the department.
Prior to this role, Simmons served as the Executive Director of Workforce at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service, where he was instrumental in implementing strategic HR initiatives that significantly improved operational efficiencies and employee engagement.
His tenure at Queensland Health as Senior Director of People Safety and Performance saw his leading efforts in performance management and employee safety, which proved pivotal in shaping the HR landscape within the health sector in Queensland.
Simmons has also held notable positions at Roads and Maritime Services and Australia Post, where he led substantial HR projects that aligned with broad organizational changes and significantly improved human resources management practices.
