Dallas, Texas, United States, September 2025 – Smarter Technologies has announced the appointments of Kayla O’Rourke as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Julia Brncic as Chief Legal Officer (CLO). Both executives bring extensive leadership experience and proven track records of success to support the company’s mission of driving innovation, growth, and operational excellence as it expands its automation and insights platform for hospital and health system efficiency.
Kayla O’Rourke brings over two decades of HR and business transformation leadership. She most recently served as Chief People Officer at EverCommerce, where she led people strategy at the Nasdaq-listed SaaS company serving 700,000+ customers worldwide. Prior to this, she was SVP, People at EverCommerce and earlier held global talent leadership roles at ServiceNow, where she spearheaded executive recruiting, talent strategy, and leadership development initiatives.
Earlier in her career, O’Rourke ran her own business as a franchise owner of The Bar Method, gaining valuable entrepreneurial experience, and held senior leadership roles at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where she was pivotal in large-scale transformations and workforce development across a $6B business unit. She also spent nearly nine years at Accenture in HRBP and talent acquisition leadership positions, focusing on M&A, leadership assessment, and succession planning. She holds an MBA in Organizational Leadership from the Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas and a BA in Political Science and Government from Hardin-Simmons University.
Julia Brncic joins Smarter Technologies with more than two decades of corporate legal and governance expertise. Most recently, she was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at EverQuote, where she managed governance, compliance, and strategic legal initiatives. Prior to that, she served as SVP, Chief Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Cigna Healthcare, advising the executive team and board of a Fortune 15 company with $174B in revenues. Her leadership at Cigna included overseeing corporate governance, M&A, ESG, healthcare regulatory compliance, and litigation, including playing a leading role in a landmark $15B judgment in the Anthem v. Express Scripts case.
Brncic previously spent more than a decade at Express Scripts, where she rose to Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, and earlier in her career, practiced law at Polsinelli and Pitzer Snodgrass, P.C. She earned her MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
