Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, March 2025 – Sonia Fernandes has taken on a new role as Vice President Human Resources Operations at J.P. Morgan, where she will focus on delivering process improvements and advisory services aimed at enhancing the overall employee experience. Her appointment marks a continued rise in her extensive HR career within the organization.
In her most recent role, Sonia served for approximately six years as Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner, where she supported Chase UK International Consumer with a range of people strategies spanning performance management, talent development, compensation planning, and workforce management. She was deeply involved in strategic partnering with senior leadership to ensure the delivery of high-impact HR solutions throughout the employee lifecycle.
Prior to that, she held several senior roles in New York, including Vice President Human Resources, HR Business Partner, and Analyst & Associate Program Manager for Investor Services. Across these positions, Sonia delivered robust HR programs and supported leadership teams through talent and compensation strategies, performance frameworks, and training and development initiatives. Her contributions were instrumental in fostering a people-first culture across geographies.
Earlier in her career, Sonia held HR leadership roles in Mumbai, India, including Corporate Development Program Manager, HR Business Partner, and Training Business Analyst. She managed India-wide analyst programs, introduced learning and talent review tools, and supported investment banking operations through core HR functions. Her career began in Reference Data Operations, where she gained foundational experience in process setup and employee engagement.
Sonia holds an MBA in Human Resources from SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), earned between 2006 and 2009.
