Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, January 2026 — The Hindu Group Publishing Pvt Ltd has appointed Sundar Kondur as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In his new role, Sundar will lead the organization’s revenue strategy and growth agenda, bringing decades of media sales, brand commercialization, and go-to-market leadership experience across India’s most influential publishing ecosystems.
Sundar steps into this responsibility after a long and highly accomplished career across the Times Group and The Hindu, with a strong track record of building profitable brands, scaling advertising revenue, and creating monetizable media IPs.
Before joining The Hindu Group Publishing Pvt Ltd as Chief Revenue Officer, Sundar Kondur spent close to a decade with Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times of India / Times Group), where he held multiple leadership roles including Director – Times Experiences, Director – South & East, and SVP and Regional Head – South. In these roles, he was responsible for advertising sales for Times of India Group, handled media sales across TV, radio, digital, and OOH assets, and created new IPs that were successfully monetized. He also earned major recognitions including the President Choice Award as best National Sales Achiever (2018 and 2019) and Best Branch Award for two consecutive years for sales performance, while actively contributing to the industry as a Mancom member of the Advertising Club, Bangalore and a brand/marketing webinar panelist and moderator.
Earlier, Sundar served at Kasturi & Sons, Ltd as Vice President – Advertising Sales, where he headed national sales for The Hindu and was responsible for advertising revenue. During this phase, he delivered the “highest ever revenue growth” cited in his profile, helping the organization shift from loss to profit, while also building and managing high-performing teams and expanding the advertiser base significantly in a short span.
Prior to that, he spent over eight years with Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group) as Vice President & Response Head. He led all-India advertising sales for Vijay Karnataka, building it into one of the most profitable Times Group brands and driving consistent top-line growth. He also helped shift the sales approach from information-led selling to solution-led selling, led large sales and support teams, and was invited as a speaker at the INMA (International News Media Association) Conference to share insights on the success of language newspapers. Earlier within the same stint, he was responsible for multiple brands including Bangalore Mirror, Vijay Karnataka, and Times of India (Kannada)—covering branding, consumer touchpoints, and P&L—supporting key launches and relaunches.
Sundar’s earlier leadership foundation was built at Mid Day, where he served as Publisher and General Manager in Bengaluru. He led the go-to-market strategy and launch for the MidDay Bangalore edition and, as a profit centre head, drove business development and sales operations for South India while expanding both new business and existing client spends to deliver strong year-on-year growth.
