Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, December 2025 — Amazon has announced the appointment of Tapan Mehta as Head – Surface Transportation, Amazon India, marking a significant leadership milestone in his more than 11-year journey with the organization. In his new role, Mehta will oversee surface transportation operations across India, strengthening Amazon’s logistics backbone and enabling scale, speed, and reliability across its national network.
In his most recent role, Tapan Mehta served as Regional Manager – North and East Line Haul at Amazon, based in Gurugram, Haryana, India, where he led large-scale line haul operations across key regions. His responsibilities spanned network optimization, operational efficiency, and cross-functional coordination to support Amazon’s rapidly expanding logistics ecosystem.
Prior to this, he worked as Senior Operations Manager – Sort Center, also in Gurugram, managing high-volume sort center operations and driving continuous improvement across throughput, safety, and process excellence. This phase of his career further strengthened his expertise in large-scale logistics execution.
Earlier at Amazon, Mehta held roles including Channel Development Manager in Uttar Pradesh, Territory Manager in New Delhi, and Operations Manager in India, where he was responsible for last-mile delivery execution, workforce planning, safety, performance analytics, and Kaizen-driven process improvements across delivery centers.
Before joining Amazon, Tapan Mehta built a strong foundation in operations leadership with Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd., where he served as District Manager overseeing multiple Domino’s outlets across Punjab, and earlier with Yum! Brands and McDonald’s APMEA, holding restaurant and operations leadership roles across India.
