Terri Van-Cuylenburg has recently assumed the role of Head of Human Resources at CareFlight, marking a significant advancement in her nearly decade-long tenure with the Australian aeromedical charity. Since April 2024, she has been responsible for leading the organization’s strategic human resources initiatives from their headquarters in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
Van-Cuylenburg’s career at CareFlight began in June 2014, and over the years, she has held various pivotal roles, contributing significantly to the organization’s operations and human resources functions. Prior to her current position, she served as Senior Human Resources Manager for nine months, where she streamlined HR processes and enhanced workforce management strategies.
Her responsibilities expanded significantly during her overlapping tenures as NT Projects Manager and Business Operations Manager from July 2021 to October 2023, and October 2021 to July 2023, respectively. These roles underscored her ability to manage complex projects and operational challenges effectively, setting the stage for her current leadership role.
Before joining CareFlight, Van-Cuylenburg was a key figure at Territory Ultrasound & X-Ray as Practice Manager from July 2011 to June 2014. Here, she managed the practice’s operations in Humpty Doo, enhancing service delivery and staff coordination. Her extensive background also includes a lengthy spell as Administration Manager at NT Medical Imaging, where from August 1999 to June 2011, she played a crucial role in administrative leadership.
Van-Cuylenburg’s career foundation was laid at the Central Coast Area Health Service, where she served as an Administration Officer at Wyong Hospital from January 1996 to July 1999. Her diverse experiences across different health service roles have equipped her with a unique perspective on healthcare management and human resources.
Founded in 1986, CareFlight is an Australian aeromedical charity dedicated to providing critical care and rapid response services for severely injured or ill patients. Utilizing helicopters, airplanes, and medi-jets, CareFlight brings hospital-level care directly to patients, whether at the scene of an incident or during inter-hospital transfers. The organization is also committed to medical education, training hundreds of specialists in the challenging environment of pre-hospital and transport medicine. Supported by community contributions, CareFlight has grown significantly, extending its lifesaving services throughout Australia and internationally.
