In this role, Varun will lead strategic initiatives, overseeing corporate strategy development, healthcare innovation, and operational excellence to enhance the hospital’s position as a premier medical institution.
Career Journey
Before joining Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Varun served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Apollo Proton Cancer Centre for over three years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in positioning the centre as the first and only proton therapy facility in South Asia, implementing advanced cancer care programs and fostering a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. His leadership helped Apollo Proton Cancer Centre achieve numerous milestones, including JCI accreditation.
Prior to Apollo, Varun held the role of Unit Head at Manipal Hospitals for nearly eight years. At Manipal, he spearheaded several initiatives, including driving P&L, relaunching the hospital, and transforming the organizational culture. He was instrumental in building key medical programs and recruiting top talent, creating a high-performance ecosystem that contributed to the hospital’s sustained growth.
Earlier in his career, Varun served as Facility Director at Fortis Healthcare, where he led operations and strategy for various units in the New Delhi area. He collaborated with the CEO and senior management to implement financial strategies and achieve patient care goals, while also ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
In his early career, Varun was the Head of Marketing at Fresenius Medical Care in India, where he directed marketing initiatives for medical devices and hospital business operations. He formulated strategies to promote products and services, enhancing the company’s market position and driving business development.
Varun’s career began at Reliance Life Sciences, where he held the role of Business Development Head for North India. In this capacity, he successfully managed budget achievement, franchise recruitment, and promotional campaigns, contributing to the growth of the company’s stem cell and genetic diagnostics business.
