St. Louis, MO, USA, May 2024 – Charles Burton, the former Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for St. Louis Public Schools, has been appointed as the new CHRO for Webster University effective June 01, 2024.
“Charles brings extensive experience working in employee relations and human resources for large educational institutions, and also has a legal background that can help guide Webster through the changing landscape of Title IX and DEI law,” said Webster University President Julian Schuster. “He was highly recommended by the search committee and by employees who met with him during his visit to campus earlier this year. He will be a great addition to the Webster community.”
Burton has worked for St. Louis Public Schools since 2003 and served in numerous roles, including director for the Board of Operations, director of Contract Compliance, unit director of Human Resources, and director of Employee Relations. Burton served as the CHRO for the district from 2017 through December 2023. In addition to his roles within the St. Louis Public Schools system, Burton has served the St. Louis community on multiple boards including Webster’s neighbor, Eden Theological Seminary. Burton also serves as the Pastor of Unity Fellowship Church.
Burton has a bachelor’s degree in government from Monmouth College and a Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law.
“Throughout the very thorough and inclusive selection process, it became apparent that there is something special about the Webster way and the people who carry the mantle of Webster’s rich legacy.
