Pune, Maharashtra, India, June 2024 – Girish Awachat has been appointed as the Head – Workplace Facilities & Infrastructure (WFI) at Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India. With extensive experience in workplace and infrastructure management, Girish brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, aiming to drive impactful facilities and infrastructure strategies.
Girish Awachat joins Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India with a robust background in facilities management and infrastructure leadership. At Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India, he will focus on managing global facilities and enhancing workplace infrastructure.
Prior to this, Girish served as the Director of Facilities at Qualys for approximately 1.5 years, where he was responsible for facilities management for EMEA and APAC regions.
Girish’s career also includes a significant stint at Sungard Availability Services, India (11:11 Systems), where he held the role of Director-Real Estate and Workplace Services for nearly 11 years. He managed the setup and operations of a 120,000 sq. feet global development center in Pune and Electronic City Bangalore, overseeing various facilities operations and business services.
He also served as the AVP – Infrastructure Services and Business Continuity at Principal Financial Group for over 6 years. In this role, he was involved in the complete life cycle development of the IT center in Pune, from real estate acquisition to office setup and employee services.
Earlier in his career, Girish held the position of Team Leader at Cognizant Technology Solutions, where he was responsible for corporate services at the Pune development center. He also worked as a Manager – Commercial & Operations at Zensar Technologies, where he developed commercial functions and enhanced internal customer value propositions. Girish began his career as an Executive – Materials & Projects at Idea Cellular Ltd, where he was actively involved in creating the GSM cellular network for Maharashtra & Goa.
