Toronto, Ontario, Canada – October 2024 – Darren Skagford has taken on the role of Vice President, Risk and Underwriting at OTT Pay, a global leader in payment processing solutions. In his new position, Darren will lead the company’s risk and underwriting functions, supporting OTT Pay’s mission to deliver secure and diverse payment options for businesses worldwide.
Darren brings over 15 years of experience in risk management and underwriting, having previously served as VP, NA Risk and Underwriting at Nuvei for more than 12 years. There, he led a team of over 30 professionals, overseeing the North American risk portfolio for merchant payment processing. Known for his expertise in high-risk industries like travel, gaming, and digital assets, Darren built robust risk strategies that safeguarded the company’s assets through unprecedented times, such as maintaining zero losses in the travel portfolio during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also pioneered rules-based scoring for transaction monitoring, enhancing fraud prevention and security protocols.
Before joining Nuvei, Darren held a key role as an Operational Risk Consultant at Standard Life Canada (now part of abrdn), where he collaborated with senior leaders to assess and document enterprise risks. His work contributed to the company’s quarterly Operational Risk Report and supported the risk management practices across its insurance business lines.
Darren’s background in comprehensive risk strategies and team leadership positions him well to drive innovation and enhance OTT Pay’s commitment to secure payment solutions.
