Lenexa, Kansas, United States, February 2025 – AnnMarie Thomas has been promoted to Vice President of People and Organizational Development at Heart to Heart International (HHI). In this leadership role, she will oversee People Services, including Volunteer Services, HR, and IT, ensuring strategic alignment between staff development, volunteer engagement, and organizational growth. She is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation, and engagement to drive the nonprofit’s mission forward.
AnnMarie has been with Heart to Heart International for over three years, previously serving as Director of Volunteer Engagement. In this role, she developed an Advanced Onboarding program, managed the volunteer database, and led the organization’s paid internship program. Additionally, she played a key role in FEMA’s volunteer management strategy and represented HHI on the VOAD Volunteer Committee.
Before joining HHI, AnnMarie was the Director of Marketing and Communications at Youth Volunteer Corps, where she led all marketing strategies, developed digital outreach initiatives, and coordinated the organization’s network-wide Summit conference. Her leadership helped position YVC as a thought leader in youth development.
Prior to that, she served as the Director of Membership, Communications, and Events at the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA), where she oversaw strategic planning for membership growth, partnerships, and event coordination. Her leadership contributed to winning two NABE Luminary Awards for Excellence in Marketing.
Earlier in her career, AnnMarie spent over six years at Wayside Waifs, where she held multiple leadership roles, including Director of Community Outreach. She revamped the volunteer program, expanded education initiatives, and helped develop the No More Bullying! curriculum, a program designed to teach children empathy and responsible behavior through structured journaling and interaction with animals.
