Seattle, Washington, United States, February 2025 – Amazon has appointed Jason Buechel as the Vice President of Worldwide Grocery Stores, expanding his leadership responsibilities at the global technology and retail giant. In this role, Buechel will oversee Amazon’s physical grocery operations, technology integration, supply chain, and customer experience strategies in the rapidly evolving grocery sector.
Jason Buechel has been an integral leader at Whole Foods Market, an Amazon-owned company, for over 12 years. Since September 2022, he has served as Chief Executive Officer, leading the brand’s strategic expansion, operations, and innovation efforts across more than 535 locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Previously, Buechel was Chief Operating Officer, where he was responsible for store operations, technology, supply chain and distribution, store design, and human resources. During this time, he played a key role in enhancing digital commerce and customer engagement, ensuring a seamless integration of Whole Foods’ in-store and online grocery experience.
Before his leadership at Whole Foods Market, Buechel served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, overseeing enterprise-wide technology, digital commerce, and emerging tech innovations.
Earlier in his career, Buechel spent nearly 13 years at Accenture, where he was Managing Director and Partner, leading store solutions and retail transformation strategies for major global retailers across industries such as general merchandise, consumer electronics, grocery, pharmacy, and convenience stores.
