Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, August 2026 — Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) has appointed Ashesh Kumar Padhy as Deputy Chief Operating Officer, strengthening its senior leadership team as the company advances its growth and strategic expansion plans.
Padhy brings more than three decades of leadership experience across the power, mining, metals and steel sectors. Most recently, he has held senior leadership responsibilities at JSW Steel, serving as Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President & Head – Odisha Projects. His work has encompassed major projects across mining and steel infrastructure, including crushing and screening, beneficiation, grinding, slurry transportation, integrated steel manufacturing, power generation and associated infrastructure.
Before JSW Steel, Padhy served as Head of Thermal Business at JSW Energy, overseeing a portfolio of thermal power plants across Ratnagiri, Vijayanagar and Barmer, along with work related to the acquisition of a stressed power asset in Odisha. His responsibilities included operational and maintenance practices, efficiency improvement, condition-based maintenance, non-destructive testing, plant flexibilization and digitalization.
Earlier, Padhy served as Senior Vice President & Director at Vidharbha Power Ltd, where he led power-station operations with responsibility across O&M, P&L, human resources and industrial relations, CSR, commercial operations and coal and ash utilization. He was previously Plant Head (O&M) and Vice President at SKS Power, Raigarh, contributing to the completion and commissioning of a 4 x 300 MW power project.
Padhy also held several senior positions within the Vedanta Group, including Associate Vice President & Head – Maintenance, Associate Vice President & Head – O&M, and General Manager – Projects/Deputy Head of Project. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 14 years with Hindalco Industries Limited at its Hirakud power operations in Odisha. Across these assignments, his career has encompassed operational excellence, greenfield and brownfield project execution, plant performance, organizational transformation and people leadership.
In his new position at IMFA, Padhy’s experience will support efforts to strengthen operational capabilities as the company pursues capacity expansion and sustainable growth.

Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), incorporated in 1961 and headquartered in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is an integrated producer of value-added ferro chrome. The company has an installed furnace capacity of 190 MVA, capable of producing approximately 284,000 tonnes per annum, and operates captive chrome ore mines at Sukinda and Mahagiri along with manufacturing complexes at Therubali and Choudwar.
IMFA is expanding its ferro chrome capacity through a 66 MVA greenfield project and a 99 MVA strategic acquisition, which are expected to take total production capacity to approximately 534,000 tonnes per annum. Its operations are supported by captive power generation, while the company is also developing hybrid renewable power capacity and pursuing diversification through a grain-based ethanol project at Therubali, Odisha.
