Sheryl Jamieson Appointed as Head of Human Resources at Evolve Education Group

Auckland, New Zealand, April 2025 – Sheryl Jamieson has been appointed as the new Head of Human Resources at Evolve Education Group. In this strategic leadership role, she is responsible for guiding a team of 11 specialists across people resourcing, capability development, pay, process, and culture, supporting more than 100 early childhood education centers across New Zealand.

Before joining Evolve Education Group, Sheryl served as Head of People and Capability at Rinnai New Zealand Limited for over two years, where she led HR strategy and cultural transformation efforts during a significant business evolution. Her leadership was central in building new capabilities to support the company’s transition toward in-house connected solutions.

Previously, she was Human Resources Business Partner at Downer New Zealand, supporting teams across the Energy division, including Power, Gas, and Wind projects. She also spent over five years at Facteon as Group HR Manager, leading HR operations and strategy across New Zealand, China, and the US, while reporting directly to the Group GM and providing regular updates to the Board.

Earlier in her career, Sheryl held the role of Group HR Manager at Baycorp, a financial services company undergoing major transition due to IPO and structural separation. She also worked with Toll/Tranzrail as Remuneration and Performance Manager, and spent nearly a decade focused on personal development and operations as Director of Operations at Family Inc.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
