Mumbai, March 20, 2024 — Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a globally recognized professional services firm, announced the strategic appointment of Pankaj Bhagat as Managing Director to lead its expansion of infrastructure and capital projects capabilities in India.
With this move, A&M India is set to capitalize on the increasing infrastructure spending by the Indian Government and private sector investments, enhancing manufacturing capabilities across vital sectors such as steel, mining, clean energy, and energy transition.
Pankaj Bhagat, who brings to the table more than 25 years of transformative experience in managing large and complex capital projects, is poised to drive A&M’s infrastructure services in response to the burgeoning market demands. Bhagat’s previous role as Managing Director at Accenture Strategy & Consulting in India, where he led the Supply Chain & Operations practice, equipped him with invaluable insights into project management, cost and productivity improvement, digital strategy, and change management.
Marcos Ganut, Global Head of A&M’s Infrastructure & Capital Projects practice, highlighted the importance of the firm’s infrastructure practice expansion, noting that A&M houses over 700 professionals globally focused on infrastructure. “Pankaj’s hire expands our global reach and enhances our ability to advise clients across the project life cycle,” said Ganut, underscoring the firm’s commitment to offering comprehensive, regionally rooted capabilities with a global perspective.
Himanshu Bajaj, recently named Managing Director and India Co-Country leader for A&M, warmly welcomed Bhagat, emphasizing the significance of adding such a seasoned professional to A&M’s team. Bajaj pointed out that Bhagat’s addition is timely, considering India’s substantial infrastructure drive across various sectors, and A&M India’s unique position to support this growth.
Reflecting on his new role, Bhagat expressed enthusiasm about contributing to A&M’s mission, focusing on delivering client-centric solutions in oil & gas, transportation, and EPC capital investments. “A&M’s operational heritage and results-driven mindset aligns with my professional experience and approach to long-term client relationships,” Bhagat remarked, highlighting the synergy between his expertise and A&M’s strategic objectives.
Bhagat’s educational background, encompassing civil engineering, general management, and artificial intelligence, complements his professional journey, preparing him to spearhead A&M India’s INFRA sector expertise development effectively.
