Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2025 — Sunil Kumaran has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of BIG FM, bringing with him over 25 years of rich experience in media, broadcast, and marketing. Having been an integral part of Reliance Broadcast Network for more than 14 years, he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer, where he was instrumental in reshaping content strategy, driving revenue growth, and enhancing brand positioning.
In his current organization journey, Sunil’s tenure at Reliance Broadcast Network included leadership roles such as Chief Operating Officer, Business Head – TV Channels, and Business Head – Karnataka & Kerala. During this time, he oversaw multiple FM stations and thematic entertainment networks, successfully steering both content and revenue strategies across diverse markets.
Before this, Sunil served as Country Head at THWINK, focusing on growth through initiatives in audio and digital content, data-led insights, podcasting, influencer marketing, and purpose-driven campaigns. He also headed The Story Lab at dentsu Aegis Network, where he spearheaded premium entertainment content production and innovative brand partnerships.
Earlier in his career, Sunil held leadership roles at UM Worldwide (Universal McCann), Rediffusion DY&R, indya.com, Lowe and Partners Worldwide, J. Walter Thompson Worldwide, and Saatchi & Saatchi. He managed strategic media planning for global clients such as Bahrain International Circuit (Formula One) and Gulf Air, launched thematic entertainment channels, and developed integrated marketing strategies for multiple high-profile brands.
Sunil Kumaran completed the Digital Transformation: Platform Strategies program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Sloan School of Management. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and an MBA in Marketing from Mumbai University.
