New Delhi, India, September 2025 — Ajay Chitkara has been appointed as Managing Director – Indo-Pacific, Global Infra at Google, where he will focus on strengthening infrastructure and digital ecosystems across the region. His appointment underscores Google’s commitment to building resilient digital foundations and advancing connectivity in one of the fastest-growing regions of the world.
Prior to this role, Ajay was the CEO & Managing Director at Ecom Express Limited, where he steered the company’s transformation in logistics and last-mile delivery, scaling operations and embedding technology-driven efficiencies. During this period, he also served as a Board Member at Hughes Communications India, Nxtra by Airtel, and Network i2i Limited, contributing to strategic decisions in connectivity, data centres, and satellite communications.
Ajay’s most significant tenure was with Bharti Airtel, where he spent over two decades and rose through multiple leadership positions to become Director & CEO of Airtel Business. In this capacity, he led global connectivity solutions, enterprise services, and digital infrastructure, while also shaping Airtel’s Data Centre & Cloud Business through Nxtra. Earlier, he was instrumental in leading Airtel’s Global Voice & Data Business, driving large-scale network expansion, consortium partnerships, and enterprise solutions across continents.
He began his career with Comsat Max Limited and later worked at Kelly Services, before joining Airtel in 2002. Over the years, he built expertise across enterprise connectivity, telecom services, cloud ecosystems, and digital transformation. His career trajectory reflects a consistent focus on scaling businesses, managing global networks, and enabling organizations to adapt to disruptive technological shifts.
Academically, Ajay holds an MBA from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad and a postgraduate qualification in Electronics & Telecommunications. He has also attended executive education programs at Harvard Business School in Strategic Management and Global Leadership, further strengthening his credentials as a global business leader.
With this new role at Google, Ajay will leverage his extensive industry expertise to accelerate digital infrastructure development across the Indo-Pacific, helping bridge gaps in connectivity and fostering innovation-led growth in the region.
