Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 2026 — Dinesh Sharma is set to step into the role of Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for International Wealth & Premier Banking at HSBC, effective April 2026. This transition marks a significant leadership move as he shifts from driving commercial growth to strengthening global risk and compliance foundations across the franchise.
Over the past several years at HSBC, Dinesh has held senior leadership roles including International Wealth & Premier Banking CEO, EMEA, and most recently Global Chief Commercial Officer (Interim), International Wealth & Premier Banking. During his tenure leading the Middle East International Wealth and Premier Banking business, he played a pivotal role in building a sustained growth trajectory, supported by long-term investments in infrastructure, customer propositions, product capabilities, and marketing excellence.
In his new global mandate, Dinesh will focus on reinforcing trust, resilience, governance discipline, and sustainable growth across markets. His leadership philosophy underscores that risk and compliance are not constraints, but strategic enablers of integrity, confidence, and long-term value for clients and stakeholders.
Prior to joining HSBC, Dinesh spent over two decades at Citi, where he held multiple senior leadership roles across regions. As Managing Director & CEO, Consumer Bank – Middle East, he led the transformation of Citi’s consumer franchise across the UAE and the broader Middle East & North Africa region. Earlier, as Chief Risk Officer, Consumer Bank EMEA, he managed credit, operational, and fraud risk across 23 countries, bringing deep expertise in risk governance and regulatory oversight. He also held regional leadership roles in unsecured lending, mortgages, and consumer finance across India and Europe.
