London, United Kingdom, February 2026 — National Grid has appointed Emma Hardaker-Jones as its new Chief People Officer, effective February 2026. She steps into the role at a pivotal time as the organization continues to support a transforming global energy system.
Emma joins National Grid with extensive global HR and transformation leadership experience spanning financial services, consulting, and energy sectors. In her new role, she will lead the people strategy, talent agenda, organizational transformation, and workforce development initiatives across the business, ensuring alignment with National Grid’s long-term growth and sustainability objectives.
Prior to this appointment, Emma served at Legal & General, where she was Chief Transformation and People Officer and earlier Group HR Director, leading enterprise-wide people strategy and transformation programs. During her tenure, she played a critical role in aligning workforce capability with business transformation priorities.
Before Legal & General, Emma was Global Head of HR at PA Consulting Group, overseeing global HR strategy across consulting operations. She also spent over seven years at BP, where she served as Director, Group Talent and People Insight and Head of Resourcing, developing BP’s five-year global talent strategy, strengthening leadership pipelines, and integrating talent processes across the organization.
Earlier in her career, Emma held senior HR leadership roles at Moloney Search, Crystal Decisions, Skillvest, Bank of England, and Prudential Assurance, building broad international HR expertise across multiple industries and geographies.
