London, United Kingdom, February 2026 —Andrew Murfin has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for HSBC International Wealth and Premier Banking, bringing extensive global leadership experience and a strong track record of delivering simplification, innovation, and operational excellence at scale.
In this role, Andrew will lead HSBC’s efforts to become simpler and more agile, ensuring the business continues to deliver consistently for customers every day. His mandate will focus on operational transformation, digitisation, client-centric service models, and strengthening execution capabilities across international wealth and premier banking operations.
Prior to joining HSBC, Andrew most recently served as Senior Business Consultant/Advisor at UBS, where he played a pivotal role in the Credit Suisse to UBS integration. He led a major programme to establish an execution-to-custody model and oversaw the migration of USD 500 billion of wealth and corporate client assets across 60 global markets. He also supported the development of custody products and digital asset custody strategy.
Andrew previously spent over 22 years at UBS, holding several senior leadership roles. As Group Managing Director, Head of Global Wealth Management and EMEA Operations, he led operations teams of approximately 4,000 staff across Switzerland, EMEA, APAC, and the US. He drove the redesign of service models with embedded data and AI tools to enhance client-centric delivery.
Earlier, he served as Managing Director, Head of Group Operations, APAC, overseeing operations across 14 locations supporting investment banking, wealth management, and asset management activities. His leadership journey at UBS also included roles heading Investment Banking Operations, Equities and Prime Brokerage Operations, and senior operations leadership in Australia.
Andrew began his career at Credit Suisse, J.P. Morgan, and Andersen Consulting, building deep expertise in banking operations, change management, and business transformation.
In addition to his executive roles, Andrew currently serves as an Industry Advisor at Armstrong Wolfe, is a Board Member at Be the Business, and a Member of the Board of Directors at The Bridge Trust, reflecting his broader governance and advisory contributions.
His appointment reinforces HSBC’s commitment to operational excellence and strategic transformation within its International Wealth and Premier Banking division.
