San Francisco, California, United States, February 2026 – OpenAI has announced the appointment of Arvind KC as its new Chief People Officer, marking a significant leadership move as the organization enters a new phase of hyper-growth.
The company stated:
“We’re excited to welcome Arvind KC to OpenAI as our Chief People Officer.
KC brings a rare combination of engineering depth and people leadership. Over the course of his career, he has held senior roles at Roblox, Google, Palantir Technologies, and Meta, helping build both products and the organizations behind them at meaningful scale. He understands how high-performing technical teams operate and how strong, practical systems can help people do their best work without slowing them down.
KC’s role will be to help OpenAI grow in a way that supports the people doing the work, from the foundations of hiring, onboarding, and development, to the systems and policies that make it easier to collaborate, move quickly, and sustain high performance.”
Commenting on the appointment, Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, said:
“We believe the way we scale OpenAI should reflect the future we’re helping to create. KC will play a key role in ensuring our people processes, policies, and systems match our ambition, while preserving the culture and operating principles that have helped us get here.”
As AI reshapes how work gets done, the Chief People Officer role will be central to how OpenAI navigates this transition responsibly. The company emphasized its commitment to serving as a model for how organizations can transition to AI-enabled work—expanding what people can achieve with AI while investing meaningfully in their growth. This includes rethinking how roles evolve, how new skills are developed, and how education and re-skilling can keep pace with technological change. OpenAI plans to share its learnings with customers and partners to help the broader economy move from theory to practice as AI increasingly becomes part of everyday work.
Arvind KC added:
“This is a moment where every organization is being asked to rethink how work happens, what teams need, how people grow, and how to adapt as the tools change. I’m excited to join OpenAI as we work through those questions ourselves, and alongside our ecosystem of users, customers, and partners building the future with us.”
In this high-impact leadership role, Arvind will oversee global talent strategy, hiring, and organizational development as the ChatGPT-maker accelerates its global expansion. His mandate extends beyond traditional HR, focusing on building future-ready systems that enable technical teams to operate at speed while navigating structural shifts in how work happens in the AI era.
Prior to joining OpenAI, Arvind served as Chief People and Systems Officer at Roblox, where he uniquely combined workforce leadership with oversight of internal technology systems. His earlier leadership journey includes a four-year tenure at Google as VP of Engineering and a key role as CIO at Palantir Technologies. He has also held leadership positions at Meta and Xilinx, bringing over 25 years of expertise across enterprise systems, supply chain logic, engineering leadership, and modern talent strategy.
Arvind joins OpenAI’s senior executive team and will report to Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon.
