Poonam Burman Joins Godrej Industries Limited as Chief Human Resources Officer

Mumbai, April 2024 – Godrej Industries Limited (Chemicals) has appointed Poonam Burman as its new Chief Human Resources Officer. Burman brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in human resources within the chemical sector and beyond. Her appointment marks a significant step in Godrej Industries’ ongoing growth and transformation efforts.

Prior to her current role, Burman served as Business HR Leader at Unilever, focusing on the Beauty & Wellbeing and Personal Care business group from January 2022 until August 2023. In this role, she was instrumental in driving strategic HR initiatives that enhanced organizational capabilities across several product categories.

Before joining Unilever, Burman was the CHRM-Home Care Category at Unilever in Hyderabad, where she led HR practices that supported business strategies from December 2018 to August 2023. Her tenure at Unilever was marked by significant advancements in HR business partnering and capability development.

Earlier, Burman held a pivotal role at Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd as the Sr. General Manager & Head of Corporate HR. From November 2016 to June 2018, she was responsible for spearheading innovative HR strategies that aligned with corporate business objectives in Kolkata, West Bengal.

Her career prior to that included significant roles at Lexmark and Unilever, where she managed diverse HR functions that contributed to strategic partnerships, talent management, and organizational development.

Burman holds an MBA in HR from Xavier Institute of Social Service and has completed an HR Executive Program from the University of Michigan. She is a Certified Corporate Director from the Institute of Directors (IOD), India, and a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst by TTI Success Insights.
